Chemistry core courses (lecture and lab) are not offered online. Some prerequisite and required math courses are offered on-line, as are some general education electives.

  • No-cost field trips, most conducted within laboratory meetings
  • Some electives (GEO 220 and GEO 295) do have off-campus components with course fees, but you do not have to take these courses to complete the major

Many jobs in geology require outdoor fieldwork and hiking, but several career tracks do not.

Licensures needed to enter profession

Some geologists earn a Professional Geologist (PG) license which costs $430.

  • Available for students who aren’t program-ready to accelerate their pace to be program-ready

Coursework availability (online, evenings, weekends)

  • MTH 210: Offered in all formats each semester
  • MTH 211: Offered as days and online for FL, SP, and SU, offered as evenings for SU
  • MTH 212: Offered as days FL and SP, offered online FL and SU, offered as evenings SP and SU
  • MTH 220: Offered as days in FL, offered as evenings in SP, offered online FL, SP, and SU
  • MTH 230: Offered days in SP, offered as evenings in FL, offered online FL, SP, and SU. This program requires lab science courses. If a student is looking to complete the degree fully online, the only online option for this is GEG 101/100 and GEG 111/110.

Online courses have required proctored components. If the student is unable to make the free proctoring times provided on campus, there may be a fee for proctoring services at other locations.
