Chapter 7: Degree Works
Degree Works is MCC’s online Graduation Planning System (GPS) used by Students, Faculty and Professional Staff to advise degree requirements, check progress toward graduation, develop a personalized academic plan, explore transfer opportunities, and positively impact student success. The Degree Works Login can be found in the myMCC portal > Employee Tools > Degree Works.
The Degree Works worksheet (landing page) features student information and advising tools at your fingertips, such as:
- the student’s Pathway, Program, Major, School, and Department
- the student’s Grade Point Average, placement test scores, and Academic Standing
- whether the student is an International student, a Veteran, and/or is eligible for Honors classes
- the student’s Admission Status/Term and Last Registration Term
- the catalog year the student is following and how many credits are required to complete his/her Program of Study
- links to the Student and Advisor email
- links to the Math Advising Chart, Class History, 2+2 advisement guides, SUNY Gen Ed Requirements, MCC Gen Ed Requirements, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- requirements that are still needed to complete a degree or certificate, and which requirements have already been satisfied
- a “What-if” feature to see how completed coursework would apply to a different Program
- different “views” of the worksheet
Other tabs/features from the Degree Works worksheet
- Plans: The Degree Works Student Education Planner allows students and advisors to develop a personalized semester-by-semester plan
- Transfer: The Degree Works Transfer Finder gives students an opportunity to explore transfer options within the SUNY system by comparing his/her completed or in-progress coursework to requirements at other SUNY institutions
- Notes: used by advisors to record advising sessions and other information on the student’s worksheet
- GPA Calc: a Graduation, Term, and Advice calculator to help students project a desired or actual grade point average
